After an upwardly mobile and successful career at Michelin North America, Lynn began embarking on his ultimate goal in real estate in the mid 1980’s at McDaniel & Company. With each year more successful than the last, a friendly competition evolved between Lynn and another highly successful broker, Ben Hines of Corn/Hines Investments.
As the Spartanburg Herald continued to recognize Top Real Estate Salesman honors, it became apparent that Spartanburg brokerage was being primarily dominated by two power houses; Lynn Spencer and Ben Hines. The two men eventually decided that rather than competing against each other, merging their efforts could be mutually beneficial. Therefore, in 1993, Spencer/Hines was founded as a full-service commercial real estate company specializing in sales, development, property management, and third-party representation.
Although Lynn is proud of his Gaffney heritage, he has been changing the landscape of Spartanburg for nearly 40 years. His knowledge of the Upstate, personal relationships with his clients, and overall integrity have made him one of the most sought-after real estate representatives for some of the area’s most notable developments and transactions.
Lynn is not only a Spartanburg resident and developer, but he believes in the community that has served him well. Besides personal hobbies, such as fishing and mechanics, Lynn re-invests locally as a venture capitalist and enjoys Christian-based philanthropy. He has two grown children and one grandson. Several years ago, he married an MAI commercial real estate appraiser and instructor, Tracy Spencer, a Spartanburg native and MBA graduate of the University of South Carolina.
Lynn has served as a board member of many organizations including, but not limited to, the Red Cross, YMCA, First National Bank, and Macedonia Baptist Church. He and his wife, Tracy, live on Spartanburg’s westside and are active members of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Some of Lynn’s most notable awards include the prestigious CCIM designation and he is regularly recognized as a CoStar Power Broker. Lynn is a successful buyer’s representative, seller’s representative, and consultant for assemblage required for development. Specialty properties include retail, office, warehouse, special-use properties, and medical offices.

Lynn remains a partner of Spencer/Hines Properties in Spartanburg and Greenville, as well as Spencer/Hines Property Management. However, with the emergence of Spencer Commercial Properties, Lynn has expanded his bandwidth, thereby allowing for improved customer service, and more time to assist existing customers while also engaging a new client-base.

Jenn handles all administrative operations and functions at Spencer Commercial Properties. As Lynn’s assistant, she ensures the seamless management of the office from day-to-day. With over 15 years’ experience, Jenn brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for community service to the company.
Originally from Athens, Tennessee, Jenn has recently fallen in love with the vibrant city of Spartanburg. She now calls Hampton Heights home, where she resides with her husband and young daughter. Jenn’s family ties extend back to her hometown in East Tennessee, where she has two adult daughters, a soon-to-be son-in-law, and four “fur-baby-grands”.
When she’s not navigating the intricacies of the commercial real estate world, Jenn indulges in her love for travel, exploring new culinary delights with her husband, hiking with friends, and even playing rugby. Her commitment to volunteering for important causes underscores her well-rounded approach to life. Jenn’s multifaceted background makes her an invaluable asset at Spencer Commercial Properties.
